Overview

The DATS & STATS 2026 Workshop (successor to SAML 2025) brings together researchers, practitioners, and graduate students working at the intersection of statistical methodology, data analysis, and responsible applications of machine learning.

It is the fourth edition of the annual workshop of the  EUt+ Data and Stat Group, a European network of Statisticians and Data Scientists belonging to the EUt+ European Research Group on Artificial Intelligence. EUt+ is the European University of Technology, a European University Alliance to which UNICAS is proud to belong.

Previous Workshops were held in Darmstadt (2023), in Cartagena (2024), and in Dublin  (2025).

Good to know

The Workshop will be a platform for knowledge exchange through presentations, round-table discussions, and networking opportunities. While welcoming contributors from SAML 2025 to submit extended, updated, or statistically enriched versions of their previous works, the Workshop will focus on a variety of statistical and data science topics. 

• Advances in statistical theory and methodology, including models, inference, uncertainty quantification, and computational statistics.

• Innovative approaches to data analysis, emphasizing exploratory, descriptive, and inferential techniques for structured, high-dimensional, or complex data.

• Applications of statistics and data analysis in real-world domains, including economics, finance, social sciences, health, engineering, environmental science, and networks.

• Dialogue between classical statistics and contemporary machine learning, with a focus on how statistical reasoning strengthens predictive modeling and interpretable ML.

• Reproducible, interpretable, and responsible data analysis, emphasizing transparent workflows, careful evaluation, and principled decision-making.

The workshop will include a panel discussion on teaching statistics and data analysis in the age of artificial intelligence. Contributions to this topic are also welcome.

An occasion to evaluate the work as well as the potential of the Statisticians and Data Scientists EUt+ network will be also offered to all the participants.
